one month and four days
No, I'm not referring to the amount of time that we've been on the waitlist (though, coincidentally, that happens to also be true). I am referring to the amount of time that has passed since I have written a post on guzo.
I am a bad blogger.
To be honest, I'm not sure I have too much to write these days - unless, of course, you want me to drone on and on about work and business trips and heatwaves and work and trying to find Ryan & Simon time (and EJ time too!) and business trips and migraines and trying to meet my goal of getting to the gym 3-4 times a week (when did that become so hard??) and did I mention work? I think I am starting to understand the saying the "dog days of summer."
By the way, despite this little rant, I'm really a very happy person ;)
So, no, it hasn't exactly been a "relaxing" summer so far. But fortunately, if I can just make it to the end of the week, we will be heading off to visit family in Oregon for a fun and relaxing week. Then we will try to enjoy more down time in August at home. Hopefully that will help make the second half of summer a little more enjoyable than the first.
Not to mention, I might just find more time for blogging again.
And before I sign off for the night - about that one month and four days on the waitlist.... Given the much longer timeframes for the adoption process this time around, we've mostly tried not to focus on the calendar and haven't celebrated any early milestones the same way we did with Simon's adoption (where I think I was ecstatic and already counting down after one week on the waitlist). There is just still so much time before we can realistically even think about traveling that it just seems like we will make ourselves crazy if we start focusing on it now.
But I admit, I did get a little smile when we'd passed the one week mark... and now, having more than a month under our belts, well, that seems kind of significant too. After all, it likely means that we're more than 10% of the way to seeing our daughter's face. Pretty cool, no??
